Mario’s parents and other family members were detained during a police raid on their home when he was in second grade. He was raised in a devout household and practices Christianity as his religion. His mother was from South Africa, while his father was a fitness instructor originally from Zimbabwe. Yo Gotti was brought up in a middle-class household. Being from the street, Mims once said, “Things like hustling will come your way.” He was practically raised in the criminal element of Memphis culture because both of his parents, as well as relatives and aunts, were hustlers.
